To receive a strong satellite signal, your receiver must be adjusted for optimal signal strength. However, waiting on a service personnel to adjust your satellite dish for you can take a day or two, which would mean you are stuck without your television programs. With the correct coordinates, you can easily and accurately adjust your satellite receiver so you can get back to your favorite TV show
Instructions
1
Obtain your azimuth and coordinates for your area before adjusting your receiver. If you are using a physical meter, the azimuth refers to the numbers located on your compass dial and the elevation is the number of degrees a dish points down or up. You can also use an online website such as Dish Pointer to locate your closest satellite and find out the azimuth and elevation of your area.
2
Loosen the bolts on the your satellite receiver to adjust the dish up and down to achieve the proper elevation. Tighten the bolts when you are completely satisfied with your elevation.
3
Loosen the sleeve nuts to adjust your azimuth. Depending on your receiver, the supports that lock your satellite from moving side-to-side may differ.
4
Continue adjusting the satellite horizontally until you achieve the strongest signal possible. Tighten the supports after you are finished so the dish will not rotate during inclement weather. The signal strength is measured to 100 percent. To make it easier to achieve the maximum strength, have someone monitor the signal
