About Pulsed Infrared Light Therapy at Home
Pulsed infrared light therapy is a type of medical treatment you can administer at home. It goes by several names, including LED therapy, phototherapy, photodynamic therapy (PDT) and intense pulsed light therapy (IPL). Pulsed infrared light therapy uses a laser to stimulate blood circulation in the target area.
Function
Pulsed infrared light therapy uses light-emitting diodes to penetrate the skin and trigger the activation of nitric oxide, a free radical in the body that promotes increased blood circulation. Because of the improved circulation of blood in the targeted area, pulsed infrared light therapy can treat aches and pains in muscles and joints, fibromyalgia, inflammation, osteoarthritis, carpal tunnel, diabetic ulcers, sinusitis, depression, skin problems and tennis elbow. It can also reduce scar tissue and promote the regeneration of cells.
Home-Care
You can treat yourself with pulsed infrared light therapy at home by buying LED pads. You should place the LED-side of the pad directly onto the skin of the area you would like to treat. You can also buy infrared light therapy devices in the form of something that looks like a flashlight, an infrared bed for the whole body and an infrared light helmet for the head.
Cosmetic Treatment
Pulsed infrared light therapy also has cosmetic uses, particularly as treatment for acne and as an anti-aging method. It is helpful against acne because it might fight bacteria. As for anti-aging, light therapy promotes collagen production, which is what makes skin look youthful.
Other Uses
You can also use pulsed infrared light therapy at home to treat seasonal affective disorder by exposing yourself to full-spectrum light. You can use it to treat chronic headaches as well. Additionally, pulsed infrared light therapy is helpful for treating your pets' aches and pains.
Warning
You should not use pulsed infrared light therapy if you are pregnant because there is no study as of yet on the effects of this therapy on pregnant women.

How to Tell If a TV Is LED
How to Tell If a TV Is LED
LEDs (light-emitting diodes) are increasingly used to provide backlighting for LCD televisions. While marketed as a new type of television screen, LED TVs are not actual LED screens but the same LCD screens as most modern televisions using a different type of illumination. Using LEDs behind the screen or at the edges uses less power than fluorescent lights and also provides deeper dark colors, as light doesn't leak out of the LEDs. As a selling point, a television's use of LED is typically displayed on the screen.
Instructions
1
Know the year of production, or purchase, of the television. LED televisions first started entering the home electronics market in 2005, so if the television was manufactured before then, it is not an LED TV.
2
Check the front of the television for a sticker that indicates if it has an LED display. LED backlighting is a major selling point for many electronics manufacturers, so that fact is typically displayed on the front of a new television.
3
Locate the model number on the back of the television. Typically, this is found on a sticker with the manufacturer's name, make and model number and other information. Use this information to research the television and determine whether it uses LED backlighting.

How to Build a 4 LED Slow Blinking Circuit
How to Build a 4 LED Slow Blinking Circuit
You can use the 555 timer integrated circuit (IC) to build a variety of light-emitting diode (LED) blinking circuits. The 555 can drive LEDs directly and needs only a few extra parts. One such circuit, sometimes called the "railroad flasher," alternately turns two LEDs on and off. Two of these circuits will give you a total of four slowly blinking LEDs. The components used are very inexpensive, and you can build these circuits in under an hour with little difficulty.
Instructions
1
Insert the two 555 ICs into the breadboard so they straddle the horizontal slot in the plastic board. Orient the ICs so the dot or key slot on one end faces to your left. Space the ICs about 2 inches apart. Take care to not bend the pins out or under the ICs.
2
Insert one 10-microfarad capacitor so its positive lead connects to the first IC's pin 2 and its other lead connects to pin 1. Insert a jumper wire to connect pin 2 to pin 6. Insert one lead of a 47K ohm resistor so it connects to pin 6 of the IC. Insert its other lead so it connects to pin 3. Insert a jumper wire to connect pin 8 and pin 4 together.
3.Examine the LEDs and note that the round case has a flat spot. The lead nearer to the flat spot is the LED's cathode. Insert the cathode lead of one LED so it connects to pin 1 of the IC. Insert the other lead, the anode, into an unused column on the breadboard. Insert one lead of a 220-ohm resistor into this column. Insert the resistor's other lead so it connects to the IC's pin 3. Insert another 220-ohm resistor so one lead connects to pin 3. Insert its other lead into an unused column. Insert the cathode of another LED into this column. Insert its anode lead so it connects to pin 4.
4
Repeat Steps 3 and 4 for the second 555 timer.
5
Insert the red (positive) lead coming from the 9-volt battery clip so it connects to pin 8 of the first IC. Insert a jumper wire so it connects pin 8 of both ICs together. Insert the black (negative) lead coming from the 9-volt battery clip so it connects to pin 1 of the second IC. Insert a jumper wire so it connects pin 1 of both ICs together.
6
Double-check all your connections. Clip a fresh 9-volt battery into the clip. The four LEDs should begin blinking.

How to Replace a LED Stereo Receiver
How to Replace a LED Stereo Receiver
Car stereo systems are evolving to also play back DVD videos through an attached LED monitor. The monitor displays the video, shows off the current audio track and may also have a built-in GPS function. If you are looking to change your current LED stereo receiver, you can do so with just a few household tools. And because the new LED stereo monitor receiver is going to have the same connection points, you shouldn't have too much trouble setting up the equipment.
Instructions
1
Turn off the vehicle and remove the key from the ignition. You don't want the car running when dealing with electrical wires connected to the battery.
2
Remove the dash area around the current LED stereo receiver. Most dashboards are attached without screws and pull off with some prying. Check your owner's manual for complete instructions.
Slide out the LED stereo receiver and disconnect the wire cable running into its back. Once the receiver is free of the cable you can completely pull the receiver out of the vehicle.
4
Plug the wire cable into the connection port on the back of the new LED stereo receiver. If the receiver is the same brand, you can just slide it back into the vehicle. If it is a new brand, you will need a sleeve adapter to ensure it fits into the available slot. The receiver slides into the adapter and two Phillips screws attach into the rear of the sleeve to tighten it to the receiver.
5
Push the new LED stereo receiver into the open slot, then place the dash back into position to secure the LED stereo receiver into place.

How to Add GameCube LEDs
How to Add GameCube LEDs
The GameCube gaming console was released in November 2001, before the
LED light trend hit gaming enthusiasts, so a new trend of making old
consoles such as the GameCube modern with LED lights is becoming more
and more popular. The most popular modification of the GameCube hardware involves adding LED lights to the controllers, since they are easier to obtain than a new console if you mess up and damage some interior elements.
Instructions
1
Remove the six screws from the back of the clear GameCube controller with the Gamebit screwdriver. Set aside the screws. Pull the controller's front and back faceplates away from one another; if they are not extremely dirty, they will pull apart with minimal effort. Set aside the back face plate with the screws and lay the front faceplate carefully so that the interior components are facing up towards you.
2
Prepare about two 4-inch lengths of the 24-gauge electric wire for soldering to the two leads located on the right side of the controller. The existing white wire is positive, while the black is negative.
3.Place your LED lights where you want them to sit inside your controller. Before making any positions permanent, place the back side of the controller in its place without securing it entirely, so you can ensure that you like how it looks. It is recommended to place the LEDs on both sides of the rumble pack.
4
Solder the end of the first wire to the left lead on the circuit board, and the end of the second wire to the lead on the right. These leads are connected to the rumble pack feature, so the LEDs will blink in accordance with the controller's vibration.
5
Grasp the wire on the left in your hand, and attach it to the left LED light by wrapping the center of the wire around the LED's prongs, and attaching the remainder of the wire to the resistor. Use the electrical tape to attach the resistor directly under the rumble pack. Repeat this step to connect the LED on the right side of the
controller.
6
Wrap all wires with electrical tape, and secure them to the body of the controller if there is excess wire. You do not want wire being in the way of any buttons, or the rumble pack.
Tips & Warnings
Only attempt this modification if you have some sort of previous electric experience to avoid permanent damage to the GameCube's hardware. Scratching or soldering your circuit board at all can eradicate the entire controller.
Always discharge static on your hands while working with computer components by touching base metal.
